The Why

Why this matters

Our vision is simple: every person deserves the opportunity to move from homelessness to home, from crisis to stability, and from isolation to community.

What we are planning

WaypointTX is creating Parker County’s first dedicated transitional housing program for adults experiencing homelessness. As one of the fastest-growing counties in Texas, Parker County continues to face increasing housing instability, yet it has no transitional housing program that combines safe housing with comprehensive support services. WaypointTX was created to fill that gap.

Our program will provide 12 private Single Room Occupancy (SRO) units along with shared community spaces for meals, classes, peer support, and community activities. Residents will have access to a safe, stable environment while working toward permanent housing and greater independence. The program is designed for adults ages 18 and older, with future plans to expand services for families with children.

Every participant is paired with a certified Peer Support Specialist who provides individualized support built around WaypointTX’s four pillars of Home, Health, Purpose, and Community. Together, they develop a personalized plan that addresses each person’s unique strengths, goals, and barriers to housing.

Who we plan to serve

WaypointTX is committed to serving people who are often overlooked or disconnected from traditional systems of care. We use a low-barrier, trauma-informed approach that welcomes individuals without requiring income, employment, transportation, or identification before they can begin receiving help.

Through participation in the TX-601 Coordinated Entry system, referrals from community partners, and direct outreach to people living unsheltered, in vehicles, or in other unstable situations, we meet people where they are and help them take the next step toward stable housing.

Our Peer Support Specialists build trust through consistent engagement, practical assistance, and compassionate support. Whether someone is referred by a partner agency, a local church, a healthcare provider, law enforcement, or simply reaches out on their own, WaypointTX offers a pathway toward safety, stability, and hope.
